    "I sometimes think the thing that keeps adults from acting is cynicism, a belief that we can't really change things; we desensitize ourselves to the news; apathy puts us to sleep. And once you're asleep, you can't do anything.

    Kids aren't like that. They don't have that cynicism in them, not yet anyway. They're awake to what's around them, so they can actually do something about it. We teach our kids all these ideals: Let's leave the Earth a better place than we found it; If you see something wrong, you can change it through action or education. Yet as we get older, we stop believing what we're saying. Kids, on the other hand, are motivated not just by what's in their head but by what they actually see, like a baby polar bear. Kids are so acutely aware and smart, they will be the ones to motivate us, their parents, to change."
